The needle in the haystack, off the path, and if you didn't know or drive out of your way to go through you'd never know. I've been over a dozen times through the years, definitely a sense of home town feel. Love the atmosphere, the food, if you're drinker they have a full bar, sometimes a wait on the food, but food has always been excellent with great flavor(s). Some nights love band some times Karaoke

This place may not seem like much from the outside but believe me...the food is oh so yummy! They have a great menu with something for everyone. It's in a small town and it's their best kept secret. The steaks are better than the fancy steak houses in Houston. The appetizers are great, from fried pickles, jalapeños & onions, fried corn nuggets, fried cheese and our favorite are the cowboy nuggets which are cream cheese, corn and jalapeño fried ball of goodness! Their steaks are always cooked to perfection (we like ours medium rare). The fried catfish is a large helping of light and flaky fish! Their sweet potatoes and sweet baked potatoes are addictively good. The fried okra is crispy on the outside but perfectly tender inside. Most of all, don't forget your dessert of homemade cobbler with ice cream. They usually have a small band playing some good ole country music entertaining the diners. There is a full bar that you can sit at if you choose. Service is friendly and food was fresh and hot! The place is an old house so it's a rustic atmosphere with vintage decor of old records and antiques. They get pretty packed on weekends so I would recommend making reservations or get there early, otherwise you may have to wait, but it will be worth the wait.

I found this place purely by accident on a previous trip home from Lake Jackson. Unfortunately, that first trip was on a Monday night and I didn't have a chance to return to Danbury (on purpose this time) to try out this quaint-looking little joint until a couple of weeks later. For better or worse, circumstances dictated I pay in cash on this visit. Good thing, too, because even though credit cards are accepted, this is yet another restaurant that tacks on a fee for the privilege (about 5% if I remember right). I decided, long before even getting in the car to leave Lake Jackson, to try the chicken fried steak. And it was a good chicken fried steak, though admittedly a bit on the pricey side. The sides of okra and mashed potatoes were also good for the most part, though one of my pieces of okra might have been a bit undercooked. The live music was a nice addition. I can see how some would consider this to give the place a "beer joint" feel, and there is definitely a good chunk of the room dedicated to the bar. What really got me to knock off an entire star of what would have otherwise been a 5-star review, however, was the Trump flag. I don't mean to turn this into a political rant, but the time to support him has come and gone. While the food was great, this by itself is enough to get me to reconsider coming back here. Finally, to rebut the assertion in another review that you need a large group to be seated: I came here as a solo diner, as I often do when I'm looking to eat a good meal after a long day at work. I had no issues getting a table and service (including drink refills) was reasonably prompt.

Best steaks ever. Will make other steak joints taste like a dawg gone hamburger patty.

One of the best Ribeye steaks you will ever order. Order the mason jar deserts to go, especially the banana pudding. Also, can't beat $3 ice cold longnecks

Exactly what I hoped to find! Exquisitely grilled steak like I wish we could prepare at home! This is an answer to my prayers! Can't wait to return often for MORE! Speaking of MORE their portion sizes are abundant and preparation is spot on!!! Kudos to friendly but far from smothering waitstaff for keeping beverages refilled! Black and Blueberry Cobbler was a hit as well as the pecan. Save a slice of lemon meringue pie for us for next time!
